Gourmet Food in India

India’s economic boom has brought with it a fresh wave of young, prosperous professionals with more disposable income and more discerning tastes. Fine foods and wines are increasingly becoming a staple diet rather than a celebratory treat and the opportunities for retailers and buyers are enormous. The rapid growth in domestic and foreign investment also brings with it a new dynamic market in travel and tourism, and a subsequent demand for finer dining in finer restaurants.

For US and European gourmet suppliers in particular, an early introduction to the increasingly discriminating Indian preference for all things epicurian, creates invaluable brand awareness and brand loyalty. These are still early days and now is the time to take the all-important early-mover advantage in this burgeoning market.
